Today’s Blog Dare, Kinda
I have been trying really hard to do the Blog Dare for August, remember my last post about retrying?
However, the admin at Bloggy Moms has been a little behind in posting the dares for each day – I understand, stuff comes up!
So today’s post is a little mix of the last few days’ blog dare (As I Grow Older & Looking Forward To The Fall). Today’s actual blog dare isn’t up yet.
I’m totally looking forward to the Fall. First, Halloween! I love, love, love Halloween. It’s my favorite holiday of all time.
The best thing about Fall though? The crisp cool air. This summer hasn’t been too harsh, actually I’m quite surprised at how cool it has been.
Summer in Texas has always been hot. As I get older though, I have noticed that each summer is hotter than the last. I’m not going to lie, at first I blamed it on my weight. Each summer, I have been bigger than the last.
However, it’s not just me complaining about it.
The drought last year was so bad, they said if it were to rain every single day in year 2012, we couldn’t pull ourselves out of it. The grass fires were horrible. Every day there was a new fire. To my understanding, all of Bastrop, Texas was in flames for days. Pets, houses, cars and people were lost in the fire. The fire was so bad that I could see the smoke in the sky – I live about 2 hours away from Bastrop. You can see pictures and get more information on that here.
We even had a house catch fire in my old neighborhood. The fire wasn’t contained in time, causing 2 more houses to go. We were evacuated because we had gas pipes. The weather was so bad, we had to sit in the police car for an hour until they were able to contain the fire and secure the gas lines.
The whole summer was one I’ll never forget.
Anyways, now that I’ve had a chance to ramble on about nothing – you know how good I am at that – I’ll leave you with this,
Why are you (or aren’t you) looking forward to the fall?

I’m looking forward to fall! It’s cooler today and I LOVE it
I love the crisp air and the energy around Halloween!
That’s my favorite also, Becky! (:
Wow. What a story. Glad you were safe. I love fall, too. Cooler weather and what’s that? SCHOOL? Oh yeah baby! Bring on FALL!
My little guy isn’t in school yet, and I’m not ready for it. I’m sure though in a few more years, I’ll be counting the days
I love fall because of Halloween, my birthday, my daughter’s birthday, and my husband’s birthday. But Fall makes me sad because Winter is right around the corner. With snow possible in October all the way through April… Yuck.
That’s a long time to have snow! I wouldn’t be ready for winter either, if it was like that in Texas.
