Recipe: The Mantis Cocktail

Okay, so this weekend I had a friend over and we decided to have a few cocktails. I mostly wanted to do it for my Green Challenge this month. However, the first drink we had was horrible. It was so harsh going down and couldn’t imagine requesting someone to drink it. So we mixed and matched a few things and tried it different ways. Okay, it wasn’t even that hard, I just removed one of the vodkas. The taste is really sweet and the sour apple is wonderful. It kinda reminds me of a Jolly Rancher. Anyways, after the second…or third drink, we started thinking about names for it. Thus, The Mantis was born. Haha. Anyways, this is an adult beverage, not meant for children, no matter how much like candy it smells. I’m going to list exactly what I got but you can purchase different brands, if you prefer.
What You Need:
Parrot Bay Coconut Rum
Sour Apple Pucker
New Amsterdam Peach Vodka
Sour Apple Martini Mixer
Shaker
2 Martini Glasses
What You Do:
- Take 1 shot of each beverage and put into a shaker; shake well. Serve in your favorite, festive glasses. I used the green stemmed martini glasses because it’s almost St. Patrick’s Day!
Tips:
- I put the beverages in the freezer a few hours before making so they were really cold. You could serve on ice though. It is best served cold.
As always, feel free to post pictures on my Facebook Wall or Tweet Me if you make these. They’d be great for a St. Patrick’s Day party.
Make sure you check out what the other bloggers are making this month!

Yum! You had me at Jolly Rancher. And BTW, I like the assignment of mixing and matching to make the perfect drink! I want that job!
Traci
Traci, it’s probably one of my favorite drinks, now! lol I would love to have a job like that also! lol
Thanks for stopping by!
Yum! I’ll have to wait until Lent is over to try this one out though…I gave up liquor. Not sure what that says about my alcohol consumption if it is a “sacrifice” to give it up for 40 days…
LOL Taryn, you’re braver than I am. I don’t think I’d be able to give up alcohol for 40 days. Thanks for stopping by and cheers!
