If Hugs Could Fix Everything
I woke up this morning to the most depressing and heartbreaking news ever.
Let me rewind a few months first – don’t worry, it won’t take long.
In June (maybe it was May), old, old friend from many, many years ago found me on Facebook (big shocker, huh?). I saw she was pregnant! She was going to be induced any day now knowing there would be a few complications.
She gave birth, C-section, to a beautiful baby girl! It would be a few days before mom could actually hold her new baby girl. They needed to get her into surgery. That’s when she had her very first open heart surgery. There were complications, but that’s to be given, she’s a new born.
It was almost a month before baby girl was able to eat from a bottle. When she started though, she did it as much as twice a day! Her color was coming back, she was laughing and making baby noises. Things were so great. We all felt that the next few months would fly by. Even though things were good, she wouldn’t be allowed to leave until she had her 2nd open heart surgery. Which would make her about 6 months old. So new mama decided to stay at the hospital with new baby every single day. New daddy had to go back to work though, 4 hours away.
No one thought anything of it. She was eating, tubes were removed and she was sleeping more at night & less during they day.
Yesterday things started taking a turn for the worse, out of nowhere.
She was admitted because something was wrong with her heart. There were complications when they took her back to the OR (operating room).
This is what I got this morning.
“She has been having a lot of unexplained issues with the function of her heart. Lost a lot of skin color was put on oxygen and unable to hold food..also random cold sweats for no reason at all. Her heart was working way to hard for her body to handle. Dr decided they needed to do a heart cath to look further into it. This morning they took her in she was very happy smiling just amazing. They started the procedure and her heart rate went very rapid and blood pressure shot down…oxygen went down quickly and her heart stopped. Drs worked quickly doing cpr to save her. Having the operating room ready they tried one more time by shocking her. After 11 minutes of chest compressions and shocking her she finally came back. She is currently stable. Still on a ventilator and many different medications making her heart pumping correctly. She is also still sedated to keep her comfortable with the ventilator and so she is able to rest. After she is in Lil better condition there will be scans to check for kidney and brain damage due to what had happened. Also will need to wait longer for her next surgery so her heart can heal and she is strong enough to go through the stress of another surgery.they did find many blood clots in her shunt and the shunt was very narrow so wasnt allowing blood flow to her body. They put in a stint to keep the shunt open and put her on a med called heperin to thin the blood and break down any clots she may have”
So today I ask you to go hug your babies 1 extra time. Forget about what’s bad in life and focus on what’s good. At any minute, you could lose it all.
And if you have a minute, could you send up a little prayer for baby girl? You know I wouldn’t ask that of you if I didn’t think it was needed.

Prayers, sent. I can’t imaging going through that with your child. I’ll send all my thoughts, prayers, and good vibes in their direction hoping for the best possible outcome: a happy, healthy little girl.
*hugs to you and your friend*
That’s so heartbreaking. I hug my kids every day thankful for their health. Sending prayers to your friends.
